What's everyones go to on shipping? I'm in Richmond, VA and have a request to send a job to LA. I'd love any suggestions from packing methods, to shipping providers. It will be 36inx36in clear red mounted on clear plexi glass. Would you suggest un-mounting it, and having the glass and the plexi/transformer separate?

Also, does anyone know a neon shop in LA that might be interested in the job? I would like to do it, but it is for a wedding so with it being time sensitive I would hate for anything to happen in shipping and it not work for the event.

Thanks!

I'd pack it up mounted - As long as the mounting stand offs allow for some give (like any tied stand off with wire ties) in shipping, so I will use foam cut outs layered on all sides and all depths of the piece, and I often use packing peanuts behind the neon between the piece and the backing. Some people build a shipping crate for extra coverage - I also have been told that if you build a shipping crate and try to send it, UPS/Fedex will charge you up the ass - but if you hide the shipping crate in a cardboard box it's actually cheaper. Thanks Bri and Dani!

I've shipped across the country, mounted and unmounted - no issues when using foam and packing securely on all sides!

There is a great thread on this about 4 or 5 posts back on this forum, a lot of great tips from a few people.
